Meet Jaylen!

Over her time with us, she has become a standout member of the team through her hard work and tenacity. She consistently shows up, takes initiative, and doesn’t hesitate to jump in wherever she’s needed. Jaylen embodies the core of who team SteelBlue is.

Thank you for choosing to be great every single day, you make us better as a company!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Where you grew up, interests, other bits about your life.

I was born and raised in Frankfort and grew up enjoying life in the country. I am a big sports fan, especially when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and love spending my free time with my little girl.

What role do you have at SteelBlue? When did you start? What is your day to day like?

I currently work on the cassette roll former. I first joined SteelBlue in November 2022 when the company was still on Home Street. After a short time away, I returned in August 2024. Over the years, I have taken on many different roles, including working at the door table, on axles, in custodial, shipping, and now in roll forming.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about your job?

People might be surprised by how often I have to take the machine apart and rebuild it just to make sure the parts run through correctly.

SteelBlue has several core values: Safety, Collaboration, Transparency, Inclusion, and Evolution. Can you tell us which one resonates with you the most and why?

Transparency resonates with me the most because I like to know what’s going on from the start. It helps me come to work with a positive attitude and stay flexible throughout the day.

What is the company culture like for you at SteelBlue?

To me, the company culture at SteelBlue feels like family. We spend a lot of time together and really get to know one another. Everyone looks out for each other, and there’s a good mix of teamwork and support. Even on busy days, we find ways to keep things light and help one another get the job done.

Can you tell us about a moment of pride that you felt while working for the company?

I feel proud every day working at SteelBlue. We work hard to keep production moving and make sure parts go out on time, staying ahead so we don’t fall behind. It feels good to know our effort helps keep everything running smoothly.

If you could swap roles with anyone at SteelBlue for a day, who would it be and why?

I’d swap roles with Matt Smith for a day, just to see what it’s like to have that level of responsibility. It’s a big job running a company this size, and I really respect how he handles it. He’s got great problem-solving and communication skills. I’m not sure I could manage it the way he does.

Which work benefit or perk is your favorite and why?

My favorite perk is definitely the donuts during inventory. I can’t help it, I just love donuts. It’s a fun little treat that makes a busy day better.

What are some fun facts about you that people should know about?

I love donuts and have a free-spirited personality. I get along with just about everyone and really value both my family and my work family. I’m always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. I’ve got a big heart and try to spread that wherever I go.
