SteelBlue’s Open Door: 2024 First Quarter Review

We've completed another successful quarter, and I'm excited to share our progress toward becoming your preferred partner in the self-storage industry. The last quarter has been incredibly productive for SteelBlue. Our Team has been on the road promoting our new 9530 Series roll-up door, making changes in our manufacturing facility, recommitting to technology, and expanding our team.

Recently, I attended the Inside Self-Storage Expo, where we had the opportunity to meet many of you. Our team is attending multiple trade shows and doing an excellent job of showcasing the features and benefits of our new 9530 Series roll-up door. We are continuing to grow and expand, and with that, we have recently hired Thomas Vaughn as our General Manager of Operations. I'm personally excited to have him as part of the team. Thomas brings more than 20 years of manufacturing experience and is already making process improvements to continue driving the organization forward. His expertise will be crucial as we commission three new pieces of roll-form equipment, which will vastly improve our lead times, consistency in our products, and add new capacity to keep pace with our ever-growing company. Additionally, the product development team, along with the manufacturing team, have been working closely to bring you our next product offering – the Boat & RV door with sizes up to 14 ft x 14 ft. I had the chance to see a working demo of this door at our facility in Georgetown. It won’t disappoint. The new Boat & RV product along with our 9530 Series products will enhance the full offering on your next storage project. Last year, we paused the development of our customer portal. However, I am excited to announce that our team has recently completed the development and implementation of our ERP system, which has allowed us to continue working on our customer portal project at full speed. Our goal is to create the best customer portal in the market, and the team is actively working towards achieving this. As someone who is passionate about technology, it has been a pleasure to see the team work alongside our customers to create a platform that meets their needs and makes doing business easier for everyone. We will be sharing more details about this project as we get closer to our launch date.

Rich Saginaw is the Chief Executive Officer and President of SteelBlue. Rich is the former President of DBCI and has a proven track record of leading large organizations in achieving maximized shareholder value, institutionalizing cultural change, and sustainable strategic growth in leading his team and customers to new levels of excellence.

Rich’s career started in the banking industry, leading to an extensive career as an operations consultant assisting large and small organizations in achieving enterprise improvements. Later he held various executive operations positions leading multi-site manufacturing facilities in the steel industry for over 20+ years.

Rich played collegiate baseball and attended Washington and Jefferson College, where he earned his BA in Business and Political Science. Rich is an avid hockey fan, golfer and enjoys traveling with his family. He is a resident of Pittsburgh, where he lives with his wife and two children.
